Director, Engineering

Garner is a revolutionary healthcare company that's reshaping the industry to ensure everyone can afford high quality care. We're looking for a Director, Engineering to lead our Search team and drive the development of a world-class Search system.

Requirements

• 6+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing software or data engineering teams
• 1+ year managing engineering managers
• Experience building ML-powered systems and leveraging MLOps best practices
• Strong background in distributed systems, large-scale data processing (e.g., Airflow, Spark, Flink), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Experience with personalization, recommendation, or search systems preferred
• Ability to translate complex business needs into a clear, executable technical roadmap
• Experience working with regulated data; healthcare data standards (HIPAA, EDI) a plus
• A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
• Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment
• A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system
