Job Description
The Scrap Buyer III is responsible for procuring retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner to support steelmaking operations. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, soliciting new sources, and negotiating purchase contracts.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in scrap buying, melting, or receiving
- Knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials
- Understanding of transportation issues and scrap yard operations
- Strong negotiation, communication, math, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Travel required to maintain vendor relationships and industry connections
