The Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in driving a shift in safety culture, performance, and achieving operational excellence by influencing, coaching, supporting and working directly with our workers, Leaders, Contracting Partners and the broader mining workforce.
Requirements
- Tertiary WHS Qualifications or suitable qualifications in relevant discipline
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessment
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders and build effective, meaningful and sustainable working relationships
- Ability to develop, implement and manage health and safety management systems
- Experience in facilitating incident investigations and risk assessments, including the use of incident and risk operating systems for record keeping purposes
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk management, auditing, reporting and investigation requirements
- Strong analytical and decision-making capability, with the ability to assess complex information, solve problems and conduct effective safety audits
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities
- Strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information
- Demonstrated planning, coordination and organisational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows operating environments
- Current and valid driver’s licence
