Job Description
North Star Fishing Company is seeking dedicated Deckhands for permanent, full-time positions aboard the F/T North Star in Alaska’s Bering Sea. The company produces high-quality frozen-at-sea groundfish products and manages three vessels operating in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska. Applicants must be mentally and physically resilient, able to work long, labor-intensive hours, and possess prior experience as a deckhand on a commercial fishing vessel. Successful completion of 5 consecutive fishing trips grants eligibility for airfare/hotel expenses between the vessel and Seattle.
Requirements
- Highly skilled in deck operations, including splicing, net repair, and proficiently setting and hauling gear.
- Strong English comprehension to read and interpret policies and procedures.
- Adaptable in managing and troubleshooting competing priorities to respond effectively to last-minute, time-sensitive projects to consistently meet operational deadlines.
- Regularly scheduled for 16 hour shifts.
- May be required to work additional hours due to occasional urgent vessel needs.
- Shipyard duties to be fulfilled as required or assigned.
