The Forensic Therapist will provide services to SMI incarcerated individuals to ensure a stable transition back into the community. The role involves employing a holistic service/strengths based approach to address conditions that contribute to recidivism, joblessness, homelessness, and/or substance abuse relapse.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a Counseling, Social Service, Mental Health, Substance Abuse and/or Criminal Justice related field
- One year experience working with adults in the mental health field required, preferably post-Master's experience
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with agency personnel and community stakeholders
- Ability to accept supervision
- Ability to adjust hours to job requirements
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Must have emotional stability to perform essential job functions
- Must be comfortable working in a correctional facility environment
- Must be able to work quickly and effectively in high pressured situations
- Must be able to work in a flexible work environment
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of the clients
- Ability to identify with the agency’s mission statement and support the agency’s core values
- Must have acceptable PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance and FBI clearance
