The Pricing Analyst optimizes profitability and competitive position for assigned retail fuel locations by managing day-to-day pricing execution, developing data-driven pricing strategies, and delivering performance insights to field leadership and senior management.
Requirements
- Manage daily retail fuel pricing for assigned markets/sites using pricing software and fuel survey methods.
- Develop and implement site-level pricing strategies aligned to corporate objectives, performance metrics, and budgeted margin/volume targets.
- Monitor market conditions, spot pricing, supply/demand drivers, and competitive street pricing to adjust strategies under volatile conditions.
- Conduct tactical and ad hoc analysis using large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and threats (e.g., elasticity, competitive movement, margin/volume shifts).
- Produce recurring reporting (daily snapshots, weekly recaps, monthly/quarterly reviews) showing margin/volume trends, pricing position, and budget performance.
- Prepare margin and volume forecasts for budgeting and earnings planning; provide market-level performance forecasts and projections as needed.
- Measure performance versus benchmarks (state/regional/national) and document KPI progress and initiative outcomes week-over-week.
- Provide timely pricing directives and clear supporting rationale to stores, district/region leaders, and management.
- Lead/participate in regular performance reviews or fuel performance calls with field leadership to identify opportunity areas and align on strategy adjustments.
- Partner across teams (Retail Operations, Fuels Marketing, Fuels Accounting, IT/CDAO, vendors) to improve pricing execution, reporting, and market intelligence.
- Verify and review daily costs and price feeds; ensure accurate supply cost calculations based on contracts and tenders.
- Coordinate with supply scheduling/dispatch/terminal partners to support inventory needs, nominations, throughput requirements, and operational constraints.
- Maintain and enhance databases that support pricing decisions and analysis; oversee data integrity within fuel pricing systems.
- Research and expand methods for electronic competitor price capture and integration into pricing/reporting tools.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to pricing,supply management, and recordkeeping.
- Conduct market rides/site reviews to assess strategy compliance, identify competitor attributes, and validate local market dynamics.
- Perform compliance audits in assigned areas to ensure alignment with pricing strategies and performance expectations.
