The Psychiatric Liaison Nurse is responsible for assessing and providing individualized care to patients in Emergency Services with mental health and/or substance misuse challenges within the Emergency Mental Health Service at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This role involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality services and provides patient education and support. The nurse will act as a role model and clinical resource.
Requirements
- Three years full-time experience in Acute Psychiatric or Community MH Nursing
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
- Basic CPR, ASSIST preferred
- Nursing diploma is acceptable
- Competencies: Basic - Keyboarding skills, Intermediate - Critical thinking skills, Intermediate - Decision making skills, Basic - Computer skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge in mental health and mental illness across life cycle, Knowledge in Mental Health Services Act, Ability to use a variety of assessment procedures and interviewing skills, Strong interpersonal skills, Ability to adhere to SHA policy, procedures, and standards of conduct, Knowledge in Human Behaviour, growth and development, Knowledge of psychopathology and the family life cycle and systems theory. Ability to network and collaborate with internal and external resources/agencies, Ability to develop & maintain consulting relationships in mutidisciplinary team, Ability to be resourceful, Knowledge in applicable health promotion and health prevention initiatives, Current knowledge of medical and psychosocial interventions, Ability to use various clinical/health assessment tools.
