The CNC Machinist II is responsible for setting up, operating, and proving out programs on CNC machining centers to manufacture precision hydraulic manifolds. This role requires safely running unproven Mazatrol programs, walking tools in, validating intersecting bores and critical features, and confirming first-piece acceptance prior to full production.
Requirements
- Set up and operate 4-axis/5-axis Mazak CNC machining centers using the Mazatrol programming language.
- Load, review, and safely execute new or unproven programs.
- Walk tools in using dry runs, single-block, and reduce rapid/feed rates to verify tool paths and machine motion.
- Perform controlled program prove-outs to validate machining processes.
- Make tool offsets, wear adjustments, and minor Mazatrol edits as needed.
- Validate first-piece hydraulic manifolds prior to full production.
- Machine and inspect intersecting bores, cross-holes, ports, sealing surfaces, and critical features.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and hydraulic port callouts.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work holding.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to tooling, setup, material, or program execution.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
- Communicate issues, risks, and improvement opportunities with supervisors, engineering, and quality.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to cycle time, scrap reduction, and process stability.
- Assist with training or technical support of CNC Machinist I personnel as needed.
