Engine Production Machinist

Primarily tasked with operating the Sunnen SV-30 Cylinder Hone. Creating and revising programs for CNC machinery. The role demands a high level of precision and attention to detail to ensure that machine outputs meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Requirements

• Operation of SV-30 hone, including installation of hone deck plates
• Create or modify 3-axis or greater CNC programs for production runs
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration
• Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction
• Input initial part dimensions into machine control panels
• Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors
• Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications
• Clean machines, tooling, or parts using solvents or solutions and rags
• Calculate dimensions and tolerance using knowledge of mathematics and instruments
• Set, monitor, and modify tolerance levels and cutting speeds to produce the component or part to specification
• Inspect produced components or parts to ensure quality and accuracy
