Video Journalist

The Houston Chronicle is looking for a Video Journalist to help bring our journalism to life through high-quality, compelling video. The role focuses on producing strong video across a range of formats, from breaking news and field reporting to features, franchise series and YouTube projects.

Requirements

• Report, shoot and edit video across formats, including breaking news, explainers, features and franchise series
• Capture high-quality footage in the field, including interviews, live events and on-the-ground reporting
• Shape stories through editing, with strong pacing, clean audio and clear narrative structure
• Contribute to higher-production video, including YouTube videos, recurring series and documentary-style projects
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, editors and audience teams to execute video tied to newsroom priorities
• Help maintain visual consistency and quality across recurring formats and franchises
• Ensure all video meets strong editorial, technical and production standards
• Manage footage, project files and assets with clear organization and version control
• Work efficiently under deadline pressure while maintaining a high level of craft
