Job Description
The Administrative Assistant is a critical player at the Howard University Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS). The ideal candidate will share a commitment to HIAS's mission and will be exceptional in their attention to detail, ability to identify short- and long-term priorities, and adeptness at managing multiple tasks and deadlines at once.
Requirements
- Maintain the Founding Director’s schedule
- Schedule meetings between internal and external partners
- Make travel arrangements according to university protocol
- Correspond with internal and external partners and contacts on behalf of the Director and HIAS in a professional and timely manner
- Assist in event planning
- Assist the Chief of Staff/Associate Director of Research in budgetary matters
- Provide research assistance and fact-checking as needed
- Receive training on proper university systems and protocols and comply with that training
- Attend and assist with day-of needs for public events
