Sergeant

The Sergeant position assists in maintaining the safety and security of the campus by providing leadership to shift personnel. The purpose of this position is to exercise work leadership in shift operations and oversee employee productivity and training of patrol officers assigned to the various University campus sites and Howard University Hospital (HUH).

Requirements

• High School Graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Four (4) years of responsible work experience in law enforcement or security work
• United States citizenship with no criminal record
• Good driving record and a driver's license valid in the District of Columbia
• Successful completion of a qualifying physical examination, agility, and drug tests
• Completion of a University-sponsored or law enforcement academy or the ability to successfully complete a police academy
• Special Police Commission with firearm authorization or the ability to obtain said commission within six months after employment
