Metallurgist

Howmet Engines is seeking a Metallurgist to support the Quality department and Sales activities, developing methods of commercially manufacturing forgings from primarily Ferrous, Titanium, and Nickel base alloys.

Requirements

• Investigate and conduct experiments concerned with physical characteristics, properties, and processing of metals
• Work with the Sales Department on Contract Review
• Understand and work to Quality requirements of major Aerospace customers
• Develop hot working, cold working, and heat-treating processes to obtain desired characteristics of customers specifications
• Consult with Engineers and the Operations staff to develop methods of manufacturing alloys at minimum costs
• Support Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction activities as directed
• Troubleshoot non-conforming parts and develop rework to correct problems
