APPRENTICE

The Apprentice School is a 4-year apprenticeship program for students interested in shipbuilding careers. They provide comprehensive training at Newport News Shipbuilding, building and maintaining nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines. The School offers a comprehensive program with over 10,000 graduates, working in a dynamic environment focused on cutting-edge naval shipbuilding.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four units passed
• Minimum of four units in Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Drawing, Vocational/Technical Education, Computer Science, and Principles of Technology
• Physical ability to perform trade-required duties
• Must be drug free and have a background that allows company security clearance
