Port and Customs Operations Specialist

Our client is seeking a skilled Port and Customs Operations Specialist to oversee port and customs clearance activities in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant operations related to import and export processes, customs documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Manage port and customs clearance processes for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with local regulations and customs requirements.
• Liaise with port authorities, customs officials, shipping agents, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth cargo handling and clearance operations.
• Prepare and submit customs documentation, including import/export declarations, shipping manifests, and clearance forms, in accordance with customs regulations and requirements.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to arrange transportation, customs clearance, and delivery of goods to final destinations.
• Monitor shipment status, track cargo movements, and provide timely updates to internal teams and customers regarding shipment progress and delivery schedules.
• Resolve issues related to customs clearance, documentation discrepancies, cargo inspections, and port delays to minimize disruptions to supply chain operations.
• Ensure accurate classification of goods, valuation, and tariff determination for customs purposes, and assist in tariff negotiations and duty optimization strategies.
• Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, trade policies, and international shipping requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Conduct periodic audits and assessments of port and customs operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices for efficient port operations.
