The Legal Aid Agency is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) responsible for operationally administering the legal aid fund to provide criminal and civil legal aid advice to people in England and Wales.
The role holder is responsible for making fair, independent, and well-reasoned decisions on applications for funding across multiple work streams, applying legal aid regulations and guidance in areas such as immigration, housing, community care, education, welfare benefits, inquests, and Human Rights law. The role requires assessing complex or novel legal arguments and exercising sound judgment.
