Launch High School is hiring a Spanish teacher and interventionist for its founding high school class in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience with project-based learning, competency-based learning, and cultural responsiveness. The role requires a bachelor's degree and teaching experience, with a preference for a master's degree and experience in urban settings.
Requirements
- Design and deliver rigorous, student-centered Spanish instruction grounded in experiential learning, cultural relevance, and high academic expectations.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including multilingual learners, through strong Tier 1 practices, co-teaching in ICT settings, and intentional planning.
- Provide targeted small-group and push-in language support aligned to students' language proficiency levels and grade-level expectations.
- Support the identification, assessment, and progress monitoring of students eligible for MLL/ELL services, including participation in diagnostic and state-required language assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan instruction, analyze student data, and engage in professional learning and coaching to strengthen practice.
- Lead a daily advisory ('Crew') using school-wide structures to support goal-setting, reflection, SEL, and strong student–adult relationships.
- Establish consistent classroom routines and expectations that promote student ownership and preparation for Student-Led Conferences.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with students and families in support of student agency and academic growth.
- Contribute to a positive school culture by fulfilling assigned duties and supporting a safe, respectful learning environment.
