CNC Milling Set-up/Operator

This CNC Milling Set-up/Operator position involves reading blueprints, verifying specifications, loading the program, selecting and securing tools, and monitoring the machine to ensure accurate machining. The role requires teamwork, strong communication skills, and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

• Reads travelers, process sheets, blueprints, specifications, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, and operating requirements.
• Loads program for repeat jobs.
• Verifies current revision level to ensure consistency of program and documents.
• Selects, positions and secures tools in tool holders in sequence specified on process sheet, verifying positions with gauges and other measuring instruments.
• Notifies LP/Floor Manager at 50% of set-up time if job is expected to exceed goal.
• Mounts fixture for work piece to facilitate machining.
• Sets-up machine and observes numerical displays on control panel.
• Runs first piece and inspects for conformance to specifications, using micrometers, other precision gauges.
