Staff Lawyer, Family Duty Counsel - Nanaimo P005-26

We seek a Staff Lawyer, Family Duty Counsel to provide legal advice and limited representation in family/child protection law practice. The successful candidate will work within the context of LABC policies, reporting to the Manager, Family Law Advice Services, and will be responsible for providing legal services to clients, conducting research, and developing solutions to family legal problems. The ideal candidate will have experience in family and child protection law, excellent knowledge of Indigenous issues, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• Degree from a Law School of recognized standing
• Membership or eligibility for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia
• Four to eight years of call to the bar in British Columbia, with significant practice experience in family and child protection law
• Experience supervising support staff
• Experience at Provincial and Supreme Court levels involving the full range of family and child protection law issues
