Tool and Die Maker 3 role at Leupold & Stevens, responsible for designing and developing tools to support product manufacturing, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and improving manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Participates in the design and development of tools
- Applies specialized skill sets to analyze specifications and operate machine tools
- Troubleshoots problems and identifies solutions
- Manages projects and ensures schedules are maintained
- Determines machining requirements and processes
- Reviews and verifies prints and drawings
- Computes dimensions and plan layout and assembly operation
- Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for machining
- Fabricates, maintains, modifies and repairs metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures and gages
- Builds, tests, calibrates, adjusts and maintains production gauging
- Participates in the development of performance specifications for tools and fixtures
- Works with tool engineers to identify and implement design improvements
- Effectively troubleshoots tool and die problems
- Identifies and initiates preventative and routine maintenance on tools and equipment
- Stays informed on state-of-the-art technologies and participates in research and development of solutions
- Trains and mentors new employees or apprentices
- Performs back up lead duties as assigned
