Senior Database Engineer

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Platform Engineer to join a team of highly skilled Engineers and DBAs who are responsible for managing the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate. The team are responsible for the day-to-day support and administration of the database estate, including engineering and all database related projects. The role involves working closely with other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.

What You Will Do

Administer and manage the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate. Collaborate with other technology teams to identify and implement optimal solutions for Man Group. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies in this area.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL RDBMS
• Foundational knowledge of MongoDB or SQL Server
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tooling such as Terraform and Ansible
• Proficiency in Linux
• Strong scripting skills (preferably Bash, PL/SQL, Python, Powershell)
• Experience of designing, building, configuring Data-Guard, RMAN
• Ability to diagnose and tune performance across the entire stack (Database internals, OS, Storage, Networks)
• Proven ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks
• Flexibility to broaden and develop skills in any area as required
• Strong prioritization and project management skills
