The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The role is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, and utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team.
Requirements
- Live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet 45-minute on-call requirement
- Possess knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique
- Adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting
- Support complex procedures, such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular
- Contribute to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines
- Provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service
