The Electrical Procurement Engineer supports McCarthy’s Renewable Energy Business Unit by leading the sourcing, evaluation, and qualification of suppliers and products for DC collection systems, DC and medium voltage cable, switchgear, auxiliary transformers, and other solar electrical balance of systems. This role combines market research, technology benchmarking, and strategic vendor relationships to improve project competitiveness, manage risk, and support successful project pursuits.
Requirements
- Perform market research and establish and maintain relationships within the industry
- Explore new technologies, lead the evaluation, and benchmarking of new products
- Support the supplier and product qualification process
- Attend industry events and represent McCarthy to the industry
- Build and maintain key relationships with suppliers and collaborate on the development or implementation of new technologies
- Communicate with manager to identify opportunities for personal growth and improvement
- Conduct project site visits and vendor inspections where applicable
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values
- Provide support for business development efforts
- Review all project specific contract documents to identify scope requirements and specifications
- Create the Request for Proposals (RFP) based on the project requirements and solicit proposals to the respective suppliers
- Perform evaluations of each proposal to develop an understanding of the products and services included
- Communicate and collaborate with suppliers to vet out proposals and options
- Review and levelize bids to identify and mitigate risk in compliance with contract documents
- Support the negotiation efforts and understand the terms of the proposal to ensure alignment with McCarthy's expectations
- Participate and contribute to the establishment of the project procurement strategy
- Coordinate the procurement efforts and negotiate the scope of work for key equipment
- Prepare contractual exhibits for leadership review of the scope of work for purchase orders
- Understand the scope specific budget and impact to the project
- Conduct and lead internal handoff meetings and overseeing effective supplier kickoff meetings
