A sonographer uses ultrasound high-frequency sound waves to take images of the body's internal organs and tissues to assist doctors with diagnosing and monitoring a variety of conditions and diseases.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience
- Registry eligible for certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) preferred
- One year of training/experience in performing cardiac ultrasound procedures including 2D, M-Mode and Doppler preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics desired
- A minimum of two years of echo work experience in performing M-mode, 2-D, 3-D, spectral and color Doppler required
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and adult congenital echo required
