WASH Officer

Mercy Corps is seeking a WASH Officer to support its humanitarian assistance program in Afar region, Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing hygiene promotion activities, working with local communities and health extension workers to improve communal and personal hygiene and sanitation practices.

Requirements

• BSc degree in Environmental health, public health, Hydraulic and/or Water Resources Engineering, or related field
• 5 years of experience in WASH projects with a focus on hygiene promotion activities
• Excellent team and interpersonal relationship skills, especially in a cross-cultural setting
• Ability to take direction, follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members
• Organized, reliable, and good communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capability
• Proficiency in Afarigna language
