The Medical Technologist performs laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
Requirements
- Performs authorized moderate and high complexity tests requiring appropriate skill and training
- Follows procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and result reporting
- Maintains records for proficiency testing and ensures consistency with patient specimen testing
- Adheres to quality control policies and documents all related activities and maintenance
- Responds appropriately when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels
- Identifies and resolves issues affecting test performance or escalates as needed
- Documents corrective actions when performance specifications are not met
- Produces consistently accurate work and promotes high standards across the team
- Communicates clearly and professionally, exercises sound judgment, and adapts tone to audience
- Works independently with minimal supervision, follows instructions, and seeks guidance when necessary
- Demonstrates technical competency and applies knowledge effectively in daily tasks
- Practices safety protocols rigorously and promotes awareness of unsafe practices
