More Than Words (MTW) is a nonprofit social enterprise headquartered in Waltham and Boston that empowers system‑involved youth—those in foster care, court‑involved, homeless, or out of school—to take charge of their futures by running a $3.75 million bookselling business. Participants work approximately 20 hours per week, gaining hard and soft job skills while simultaneously receiving personalized transition planning and case management through the "You Job" program. MTW’s distinctive approach blends authentic business responsibility with high expectations and a culture of support, enabling young people to overcome personal barriers, develop concrete action plans, and transition into meaningful employment or higher education. After graduation, MTW continues to provide career services for two years, helping alumni secure credentials, pursue education, or enter growth‑focused career pathways.
