Job Description
The Certified Surgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions. This role is essential for operating room team support, ensuring patient safety during surgery, and assisting the surgeon with all procedures. The role requires a strong understanding of surgical techniques, sterile technique, and infection control.
Requirements
- Completion of a formal surgical technician program
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist Program
- Current certification as a Certified First Assist (CFA) through the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistants
- 3 years of operating room experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialists
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC)
