Job Description
Nelnet is seeking a Reinsurance Controller to lead finance strategy, reporting, and controls across its reinsurance portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, 5+ years of insurance/reinsurance accounting experience, and progressive leadership experience. The Reinsurance Controller will be responsible for managing a team, partnering with leadership and actuarial, and ensuring timely, accurate, and decision-ready results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance
- CPA strongly preferred
- 5+ years in insurance/reinsurance accounting with progressive leadership
- Deep GAAP for re/insurance
- Statutory accounting familiarity preferred
- Strong data orientation (Excel/PowerQuery/Power BI or similar)
- Experience with process automation and data quality improvements preferred
- Relationship savvy across internal and external partners
