The Vice President of Government and Community Relations will support NYCEDC's efforts to advance equitable economic development across the five boroughs, requiring strong political acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate government and community relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, campaigns, and/or community-based organizations
- Experience with New York City land use policies, procedures, and public approval processes
- Experience managing and coaching staff
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to anticipate challenges and develop practical, creative solutions
- Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders on complex projects
- High level of attention to detail and organization, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience advancing and staffing a principal preferred, ideally within government or for an elected official
- Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs and attend evening meetings as needed
- New York City residency required within 180 days of hire
