Join Nordex as an Assistant Site Manager in Canada and be part of an agile team where colleagueship truly matters. Assist with everyday activities at the Wind Farm during the erection and commissioning phase, and provide support to the Erection and Commissioning Manager. Assist with the coordination of heavy equipment, quality control, and transportation documents. Interact with customers and contractors, and assist with the coordination of the mobilization of all heavy equipment on-site.
Requirements
- Associate’s in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent related work experience accepted
- 3 years of mechanical/construction experience; Wind Farm mechanical construction experience preferred
- Experience in quality management and quality control processes; Wind Turbine Assembly experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
- Ability to spend 100% of the time at the wind farms during the erection and commissioning process
- Ability to manage personnel and interface with the customers and contractors
- Ability to manage contractors, sub-contractors, and the public
- Demonstrated ability to manage several activities at once, including organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepare reports
- WTG on-site assembly experience preferred
- Fluency in Spanish/German a plus; English and French proficiency is a requirement
- Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required (80% - 90% travel)
- Ability to work in Canada as a legal resident with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a US passport
- Ability to move and manipulate up to 22.7 kilograms, climb vertical ladders, and work at heights above 91.4 meters
- Meet the weight requirement of 120kg (265 lbs.) or less to safely utilize climbing equipment and climbing gear
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
- Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment
- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members
