The Dietitian is responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. They advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition required
- Dietetic Internship Program required
- Current registration (or eligibility) with Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietitians (NSRD) required
- Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experiences an assets
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting
- Current WHMIS an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications
- Familiarity with the Meditech information system considered an asset
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
