Railway Car Technician

The Railway Car Technician will inspect, maintain, repair, and remanufacture railway passenger cars, freight cars, and their components. The technician will work from blueprints, use hand tools and testing devices, and operate equipment such as cranes and forklifts. The role requires a high school diploma, a certificate of qualification as a Railway Car Technician, and mechanical aptitude. The technician will work in a team environment and must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (OSSD) or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Certificate of Qualification as Railway Car Technician 268R or within final year of apprenticeship in the same identified trade
• Mechanical aptitude
• Available for shift work
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Knowledge of safety codes and demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and walk on rough terrain
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
• Commitment to Health and Safety
• Must have a valid driver’s license
