Principal Power Systems Engineer

AspenTech is seeking a Principal Power Systems Engineer to design, build, and deliver Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to electric utilities worldwide. The successful candidate will work closely with customers to understand their operational needs and provide system training and configuration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in applications engineering, software engineering, or computer engineering or related field
• 7+ years of application engineering work experience
• Ability to travel up to 20%
• Solid understanding of general computer operations
• Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
• Basic understanding of remote system access
• Ability to collect and analyze data to identify software defects
• Ability to distinguish between configuration issues and development bugs
• Attention to detail: ability to accurately update and sync configuration across a large number of servers
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues without step-by-step guidance
• Ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, customer-friendly explanations
• Capable of identifying root causes and communicating solutions
• Knowledge of SQL Server, MongoDB preferred
• Understanding of, or experience with, an OMS or ADMS preferred
