Job Description
OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers, turning research breakthroughs into production systems. This role involves embedding with users to solve high-leverage problems, rapidly deploying solutions, and identifying patterns that shape the platform. The ideal candidate will lead complex deployments of frontier models, driving clarity across internal and external teams and sharing field signals to influence the roadmap.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience that includes customer-facing work
- Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
- Proficiency in writing and reviewing production-grade code across frontend and backend using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks
- Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models
- Ability to simplify complexity and make fast, sound decisions under pressure
- Strong communication skills with engineers, product teams, and customer stakeholders
- Ability to spot risks early and adjust without slowing down
- Ability to remain calm and make sound judgments under high-pressure situations
