The 2nd class mechanic performs as a professional, highly skilled and exceptionally competent maintenance person, participating in teams to develop and implement solutions.
Requirements
- Lives the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements
- Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs
- Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures
- Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations
- Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel
- Inspect vehicles before use and throughout shift
- Maintain DM and Step Boards
- Energy Control Procedures (ECP's) and Lock Tag Try (LTT) system
- Forklift operation
- PLC intermediate
- Troubleshooting
- Installs, modifies or maintains plant equipment
- Must work safely and follow all documented and 'common sense' safety policies and procedures
- Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and other technical data references
- Expert use of hand and power tools
- Inspect plant equipment to identify potential problems prior to breakdown occurrences
- Follows all environmental compliance polices & programs
- Work as instructed with outside contractors
- Mechanical
- Basic understanding of machining bores, keyways, drill press, grinding; lathe and mill operation
- Ability to properly precision align belt, gear or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances
- Understanding of lubrication principles and bearing tolerances and bearing physics
- Hydraulic systems understanding
- Compressed air and steam systems understanding
- Understanding of pump and operating characteristics
- Ability to track conveyor belts properly and understanding the physics of belt operation and tracking
- Pipefitting – alignment, flange, threading
- Electrical component 'how they work' understanding
- Ultrasonic rotating equipment troubleshooting
- Industrial electrical code
- Capability to read schematics and P&ID drawings
- Fusing, thermal overload protection, wire sizing, motor theory
- AC/DC and Servo drive system
- Burner system understanding, troubleshooting and properly tuning
- Support the training and development of colleagues
- Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate
