A cook is responsible for preparing food, ensuring quality and safety, and maintaining a clean kitchen. Cook a variety of dishes using different methods, such as grilling, baking, frying, boiling or steaming. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, follow proper food handling and storage procedures, and comply with all health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Participate in cooking, baking and the preparation of quality foods of different kinds.
- Work with head chef in checking of all purchased supplies for quality and account for each delivered item.
- Work closely with other head chef to create menu items and determine food inventory needs.
- Ensure that the Kitchen and its environs meets all regulations, including sanitary and safety guidelines.
- Responsible for the food that comes out of the kitchen, from conception to execution.
- Check the quality and quantity of cooking products in the kitchen.
- Work with head chef to estimate amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients.
- Order or requisite for food stuff and other supplies needed to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Ensure all ingredinets are fresh and that the final dishes are of high quality, tasty and presented attractively.
- Prepare and assemble orders accurately and efficiently, often in a fast – paced environment.
- Performs other departmental duties as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor as and when the need arises
