The Commissioning Superintendent provides input and technical expertise for utility-scale solar construction projects. The job involves supervising and setting the direction for General Foremen, Field Engineers, and Foremen on-site to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained and costs are controlled in the construction discipline for the project site.
Requirements
- Supervises and sets the direction for all General Foremen, Field Engineers, and Foremen on-site
- Provides formal coaching feedback to General Foremen, Field Engineers, and Foremen
- Schedules equipment, materials, tools, and subcontractors to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production and minimize costs
- Trains and implements standardized Work Plans and Work Assists
- Acts as an electrical consultant to supervisory and field personnel
- Responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project
- Communicates with Site Manager to update him/her on project problem areas and the specific status of the project
- Collaborates with Site Manager, other Trade Superintendents, General Superintendents, and other supervision to plan and staff trade employees
- Assist Site Manager in communicating and negotiating with the owner regarding major project decisions
- Displays a professional demeanor and acts professionally while interacting with internal and external personnel
- Creates a collaborative environment with craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to continually improve the company’s delivery performance
- Verifies that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the Project Quality Plan
- Mentors Field Coordinator/Field Engineers and General Foremen on work discipline, production costs, the scope of work, quality, and safety
- Identifies potential change orders and informs the Site Manager
- Familiarize themselves with site conditions
- May at times act as a project leader in the absence of the Site Manager
- Participates in RFI development and technical accuracy
- Support economic conditions by hiring locally, attending job fairs, and attending public information meetings
- Establish and maintain crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed
- May at times visit proposed project sites to support Estimating and Business Development
- Become a project liaison with key community leaders and local landowners
