Job Description
The Maintenance Director is responsible for maintaining the facility physical plant and essential mechanical, electrical and patient/resident care equipment in safe operating condition. The role involves managing employees, performing daily duties, and maintaining equipment to ensure a hazard-free environment for residents, staff, and others.
Requirements
- Collects and reviews maintenance requisitions
- Establishes and conducts scheduled maintenance
- Maintains and tests emergency power system
- Monitors temperatures and performs repairs
- Communicates with residents, families, and legal representatives
- Monitors performance of maintenance staff
- Performs quality assurance functions
- Develops and updates maintenance policies and procedures
- Completes documentation and record keeping
- Collaborates with consultants
- Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates
- Participates in department budget development
- Hires and retains qualified maintenance staff
- Actively participates in long term care survey process
