Job Description
The Outpatient Coder will review medical documentation to assign codes, sequence, edit, and validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters. The role requires experience in acute care coding, coding guidelines, and software proficiency.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience performing medical record coding in an acute care setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Health Information, Nursing, or related field
- Functional knowledge of EMR, Encoder, and CDI Tools
- Comprehensive understanding of UHDDS guidelines, CCI Edits, and Coding Clinic
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
