Job Description
Outpatient Acute Care Coder responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to patient charts of moderate to high complexity, reviewing medical documentation, and adhering to coding rules and regulations.
Requirements
- 1-3 years' experience in medical record coding in an acute care setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in Health Information, Nursing, or related field (or formal coding classes completed and passed)
- Functional knowledge of EMR, Encoder, and CDI Tools
- Comprehensive understanding of UHDDS guidelines, CCI Edits, Coding Clinic, etc.
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
