Materials Manager

This Materials Manager role is responsible for directing procurement operations, ensuring timely delivery of components, and maintaining superior quality. The position involves managing the purchasing and distribution of raw materials, components, and supplies, as well as coordinating activities of personnel. This role also includes analyzing market conditions, negotiating with suppliers, and managing inventory.

Requirements

• Develop, implement, and maintain effective policies for purchasing, MRO buying, VMI, Capital Requests, and all other material related activities.
• Establish long-term goals for each Materials Buyer team member and measure their results in application of task completion and thoroughness of work.
• Direct, plan, and implement systems to ensure customer production requirements are met and/or surpassed.
• Prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
• Arrange for disposal and disposition of surplus material.
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Manage inventories to ensure product availability and minimize inventory levels.
• Develop programs that result in the Company being able to secure new suppliers and material on a timely and cost effective basis.
• Negotiate prices, discounts, delivery dates, and other items with suppliers of raw material and component parts.
