High Voltage Substation Technician

Commission and test primary and secondary power equipment in the field, maintaining medium to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment. Mentor and educate Apprentices, and set up and operate standard and specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze performance of power delivery equipment.

Requirements

• Work safely alongside all members of the construction crew
• Acceptance and maintenance testing of 600v to 500kV electrical equipment
• Installation, commissioning and maintenance of protection and control equipment, SCADA
• Interpret prints, analyze test reports and recommend corrective actions
• Supervise, mentor and train junior technicians
• Work with high voltage equipment such as Circuit breakers, transformers, switches and control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systems
