Electrical Design Engineer

At Salas O’Brien, we tell our clients that we’re engineered for impact. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in a remote role in Portland, Oregon. This position is responsible for the design of building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems, with a strong emphasis on healthcare projects.

Requirements

• Develop electrical system designs in accordance with project scope, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
• Provide engineering planning, design, and construction administration services for: Power distribution systems, Lighting and lighting control systems, Fire alarm systems, Nurse Call systems, Other low voltage systems.
• Perform existing building surveys and document current electrical and fire alarm conditions.
• Prepare, edit, and coordinate electrical specifications and construction documents.
• Author engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents.
• Coordinate closely with internal project teams, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in and lead technical discussions, design coordination meetings, and client presentations.
• Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination as needed.
• Assist Project Managers with technical input, schedule coordination, and project execution.
