Mechanical Test Engineer

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to design, execute, and analyze mechanical and structural tests on components and full systems for their autonomous surface vessels. This role is crucial for validating designs, improving reliability, and ensuring systems meet performance and environmental requirements for military operations within the Department of Defense (DoD).

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical testing, validation, or systems integration
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials, failure modes, and environmental testing standards
• Experience with mechanical instrumentation, strain gauges, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems
• Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) and basic FEA tools
• Hands-on skills with test setup, mechanical assembly, and fabrication tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• US Citizenship required; eligibility for DoD security clearance preferred
• Familiarity with marine or defense systems
• Experience with data processing tools such as Python or MATLAB
• Knowledge of reliability testing methods (HALT/HASS)
• Previous involvement in DoD test campaigns
