Nursing Director

The Nursing Director position at Mentor Community Services involves directing a department or program responsible for delivering health care services to clients/individuals. The role requires managing staff RNs, supervising licensed practical nurses, and implementing medically related services and supports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, with a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing and at least five years of experience, including three years of management experience, with the population being served.

Requirements

• Provides professional support and medically related guidance to employees, supervisors, and office staff regarding medical policies and procedures.
• Acts as a consultant to professional and paraprofessional support staff.
• Monitors services of physicians and other medical service providers to assure quality standards of care are met.
• Assures the overall quality of services and supports of each person within the assigned area.
• Encourages self-direction for each person served.
• Maintains a functional understanding of funding, managed care requirements, and licensing requirements for each person served.
• Completes medical quality assurance reviews of medically related services and supports.
• Supervises Approved Medication Assistive Personnel (AMAP) and assures compliance with AMAP regulations.
• Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and agency regulations.
• Assures that all medical related records are kept organized, complete, and confidential.
• Develops and implements person-centered IPP.
• Maintains familiarity with emergency procedures and implements procedures in the event of an emergency.
• Provides crisis intervention as necessary.
