As a new member of the NSP electrical engineering department, you will be involved with a variety of exciting projects supporting the design and modifications for the electrical power system for Candu and other nuclear power plants. This role will require carrying out various duties involved with conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering as well as procurement support associated electrical power system equipment.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- 8+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design for either in the nuclear industry or other heavy industrial environment such as: mining, oil & gas, power, etc.
- Basic knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems is considered an asset
- Working knowledge applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
- Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset
- Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems
- Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and good ability to interact and communicate (both verbal and in writing) professionally with colleagues, clients and contractors
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset
- Willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)
