The Youth Associate Librarian will help patrons use the library, especially young patrons, with a focus on reading and engaging experiences. They will provide hands-on customer service, plan activities, and connect patrons digitally.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university
- At least 1 year of experience working with the public at a public library or bookstore
- Valid State of Indiana Librarian Certification, Level 5 or obtained within three years of hire as a condition of employment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills
- Public service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service
- Practical experience and proficiency with computers, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Windows, Mac OS, and communication technologies
- Knowledge of a wide variety of library materials and services
- Physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift, and move library materials (20-25 lbs.) and to stand for long periods of time
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of children's literature and early literacy educational methods
- Spanish language skills preferred
