Lactation Consultant- Baby & Me Support Center, Part Time

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for promoting and coordinating patient care and educational activities related to lactation at St. Luke's Baby & Me Support Center, providing consultation with inpatient and outpatient clients and health professionals, and developing standards of care and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers. The role requires promoting breastfeeding, implementing patient and family education, and reviewing care routines and policies with clinical staff.

Requirements

• Actively promotes breastfeeding and assists mothers in reaching their own goals for breastfeeding.
• Develops and implements standards of care and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers in all areas of the organization.
• Provides outpatient consults for breastfeeding mothers at St. Luke's Baby & Me Support Center.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient, family and staff breastfeeding education activities.
• Ensures all staff members are oriented to the infant feeding policy within 6 months of hire.
• Develops, implements, and maintains a reference library of breastfeeding materials.
