Pharmacist III

The Pharmacist III position is responsible for overseeing the operation of a pharmacy at a state institution or facility, including reviewing prescriptions, compounding and dispensing medications, and monitoring drug supplies.

Requirements

• Review and interpret prescriptions
• Compound and dispense medications
• Maintain patient profiles
• Verify technician activities
• Consult with physicians
• Investigate adverse drug reactions
• Monitor drug supplies
• Direct the ordering of new supplies
• Assign tasks to technicians or clerks
• Ensure on-coming shifts are properly staffed and briefed
• Provide in-service training
• Maintain records of controlled substances
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies and procedures
• Assist in the preparation of pharmacy reports
• Provide drug information
• Make formulary recommendations
• Provide clinical input on institutional committees
• Direct or supervise pharmacy staff
